Branding Yourself

Branding yourself is hard work. I've gone through a lot of different logo drafts and I think I'm finally starting to get somewhere. Although I don't think I'll use this design I wanted to add it as a portfolio piece. Any excuse to practice lettering is good!

Google Chrome Commercial

Some of first items I helped design for Target set in stores last month for the back to school season and I just spotted one of them in this Google Chrome commercial! Pretty cool!

Derryfield Repertory Theatre Camp T-Shirts 2012

I've been designing for The Derryfield Repertory Theatre Camp since its start in 2006 and for the past few years I've been designing t-shirts for the campers and counselors to wear for their last big hurrah during their final performance. I'd say the first couple years' designs were predictable with big block letters and such, but this year I wanted to do something different and I'm very happy with the result.

The Derryfield Repertory Theatre Camp divides their campers into color teams as a way of promoting team spirit and fun/friendly competition. This year I'd hoped to achieve a slightly more muted palette but sadly due to printing limitations we ended up going with something more traditional.

In the end though everyone looked great and I was definitely happy with the result!

When I left Target back in June I wanted to do something special for all the awesome people I got to work with while I was there. I made a card but that just seemed lame so I decided to amp it up and I made these little caricatures of everyone and gave them copies to keep. Here's a couple of my favorites:

iphone case designs

I was going through some folders on my computer when I came across these iphone case designs I had done for myself a while ago during a lunch break. I actually did have one of them printed by Uncommon.

Overall I was very happy with this site. I got to choose from a variety of cases, it was really easy to upload-- which on some sites can be so frustrating you give up before the site has even processed your design --and the execution of the print was really good too. They also included a bunch of %20 off your next case coupons which I handed out to friends so they could give it a try.

There a few sites out there nowadays with these types of features, including Society6, but if you don't feel like creating a whole body of work for yourself and competing with other's designs, you can use Uncommon and just get yourself an iphone case.

Children's Clothing Designs - Vintage Theme Park

For a while now I've been wanting to do some experimenting with children's clothing designs and I finally found the right inspiration to get started!

I decided on three themes, the first of which is inspired by some amazing vintage photos of Disneyland I found--

It's been so long since I've posted! I've been busy at Target, you'll see some of my first designs out in June! Secondly, I've continued to do work for Sincerely Ink, get ready to see some new cards available soon!

This is hopefully the start of a little series I'd like to do. Usually I don't post pieces in progress, but I'm glad I tried it with this one because it certainly is satisfying!

Sincerely Ink Press

Wow! So it seems that the Sincerely Ink app has been getting a lot of press. Here's a few links-

That's the first time I've seen one of the designs printed, it looks pretty good! I'm so glad the guys at Sincerely have taken time to make sure the prints come out well. That's the hardest part when designing things digitally- you can put all the time you want into it but if it prints out badly then it's all for nothing.
